Snow day!

Snow was not on our weather forecast bingo card but it came just the same!

Randy left early yesterday morning to head to his mom’s birthday party on the other side of the state. I took advantage of the evening alone to do a TikTok live. While I was regaling my followers with stories of death and dying like I do, Randy texted. I figured it was just a check in so I didn’t bother to quit the live to take a look at his message. A half an hour later I ended my session and checked my messages.

His read “You don’t need to call me back, I just noticed that it’s supposed to be snowing there right now.”

That was odd, I thought, the iPhone weather app 10 day forecast didn’t call for any snow! Kevin was sleeping peacefully on my lap and I didn’t want to disturb him so I opened said app and sure enough, it showed the little snowflakes coming down on the screen. So I rousted Kevin, grabbed a flashlight and looked out the window. Low and behold there was at least an inch of snow on my car and it was DUMPING! It continued to dump all night. This morning there was a good 4 inches and by afternoon there was 6.

My new neighbors, Heather and James, came up on their snowmobile to treat our chickens for leg mites. They have a little farm with an assortment of animals and lots of knowledge in how to care for them. Something Randy and I admittedly lack. Anyway, a couple drops of Ivermectin under their wing and some vaseline slathered on their legs will hopefully do the trick. Lyle the rooster is gurgling when he breaths and Heather thinks he might have lung worms but the Ivermectin will clear that up too. I’m so happy to have such nice neighbors and you will hear more about them as I try to help promote the non profit animal rescue and wellness ranch for first responders (Wheel horse ranch on the socials .. look them up!)

After the chicken treatments we sledded for awhile, visited and played with Kevin in the snow. Which, by the way, has continued and is supposedly going to keep going overnight.

Randy decided to cut his trip short and will be home late tonight. He is aware he might have to chain up to make it up the driveway. It’s good he's coming back, I am literally snowed in until he plows the road. I mean, I am a bad ass and I can put chains on my car if need be but I don’t want to have the need!
